Carlow Town Halloween Park Run

The Carlow Town Park Run is a free run that takes place every Saturday morning in Carlow Town Park. This coming Saturday there is a Halloween Theme in place and runners are encouraged to take part in costume! It promises to be a spooktacular event!


Rathwood's Halloween Train Adventure

Venue: Rathwood 
Date: From Saturday the 20th October to Sunday the 4th November

Jump on board the Rathwood Express Train with Wizzie & take a trip to visit The Whacky Wizard....

A trip to him can only means one thing TROUBLE!!!! Fingers Crossed he can save the Terrible Twins before it's too late.

Continue deep into the spooky forest to find Treasure Island & save the twins from the Wicked Witch.

Once the witch is defeated the Rathwood Express Train will take you to the Magical Pumpkin Patch, here each child we will pick their very own Pumpkin to carve & take home

What's included on the day?

  • Take a magical journey on board the Rathwood Train into the woods
  • Watch out for spooky characters along the way
  • Walk through the Enchanted Forest that leads to the haunted house and pirate ship
  • Come back to our pumpkin patch where each child receives their very own pumkin

  • Hot Chocolate for every child booked on the Rathwood halloween train.
  • Suitable for younger kids (babies up to 8 years of age). It gets scarier after 4pm for bigger kids!

They stumble upon a gateway to another dimension, a doorway that will release evil upon the city. The Ghostbusters must now save New York from complete destruction.

Halloween Experience

Halloween Party at Dracula's Castle

Venue: Equal Chances Polish School (Polska Szko?a Równe Szanse), Presentation College, Askea, Carlow 
Date: Saturday 27th October

We are calling all scary Halloween ghosts, skeletons, witches and many more to the Halloween Party at Dracula's Castle. 

All groups of children will be involved in making of Halloween art work (which will be part of our decoration), music activities (simple Irish songs sang by children), poems and dance. We would like to invite everyone to take part in our competitions and activities: 

- Pumpkin/mask competition 
- Comics including using Irish words associated with Halloween 
- Halloween recycling construction contest

The project 'Halloween Party at Dracula's Castle' will be beneficial for local and immigrant students living in County Carlow. Participants will gain knowledge and develop their understanding of the role of social integration by celebrating Halloween together. The purpose of the competition is to make children and young people aware of the role of social integration and to demonstrate the key role played by deeply understanding of national and cultural event.

Lucinda Sly Walking Tour

Venue: Carlow County Museum
Date: 2nd Nov

On Sunday 9 th November 1834, Walter Sly was murdered at his home at the Ridge, Old Leighlin, Co. Carlow. Following their conviction for murder, Lucinda Sly, Walter's wife, and their servant, John Dempsey were both publically executed at Carlow Gaol (now the Carlow Shopping Centre) on Monday 30th March 1835. This walking tour of Carlow town will recount those tragic events from 1834 and 1835. Lucinda was the last woman to be publically hanged in Carlow town. The tour will begin in Carlow County Museum under the gallows trapdoor from the Gaol and will conclude standing over the front entrance of the Gaol from where the executions took place. Walking Route: Museum, Shamrock Square, Potato Market, Bridewell Lane, Deighton Hall and Carlow Shopping Centre. This is a free event and all welcome. Time 60 mins+. (Walking route subject to change depending on the weather).
